Montauk Lighthouse Museum at Montauk State Park

Run by the Montauk Historical Society. The museum features the history of the lighthouse and an interactive diorama and offers guided tours. Climb 137 steps to the enclosed deck at the top for great views (children must be 41" tall to climb). Enjoy spectacular views of Block Island to the east. Open daily from May 10thru October 11 and on weekends throughout the year (weather permitting). Costs $6.00 for adults, $5.00 for seniors and $3.00 for children up to 12 years old and at least 41 inches tall. Children under 41 inches are free, but they can't climb the tower. Parking is $6.00 per day. Group, wedding, and school tours year round with advanced reservations.

Join a park naturalist at Montauk Point State Park to see seals in the wild when they winter here. Bring a camera and binoculars and make sure to dress warmly for this 2-3 hour guided brisk beach walk to observe seals and winter birds and to explore marine geology. Starting in December, these walks will be held on the weekends through April. Fee is $5 for adults, $2 for children, with children under 7 free.

On Montauk Highway, one half mile west of the Village, a late 1700’s farm-house and the site of the second house built on Montauk. First House, at the entrance to Montauk, is long gone. Featured – memorabilia from those early cattle days, early photos, and a pretty herb and rose garden. Open 10am–4pm daily in season, closed Wednesday.
